It’s always rewarding to work with a challenger brand to bring a truly differentiated offering to life—finally an air travel experience that respects your time and treats you with humanity. In addition to brand identity refinements and livery design, we created a campaign to drive home the promise of ease and time savings. We wrapped it all up with a simple yet profound prompt: Hop on. We designed the brand identity, packaging, site, social and swag to help Bronco Wine Co. challenge the comfortable conventions of sparkling wine. Instead of leaning on elegance, weddings, holidays, or ceremonial cues, the design recasts sparkling wine as a fuel for creativity, mixing, gathering, and personal expression. It embraces humor, space-age storytelling, and California-born inventor energy to create a brand world that feels more like an invitation to experiment than a bottle reserved for special occasions. They came to us looking for an updated brand identity that would help them stand out in an increasingly competitive landscape. We developed a new brand style guide, which included establishing a flexible photography style and consistent way to shoot and build photography, new typography to pair with their existing logotype, developing a new brand color system, including a simple formula to help create new palettes for future campaigns, designing a custom set of prints to be used across printed, social and digital assets and bringing a distinctly MIXT voice to the copy. We then implemented this new brand identity across in-store touchpoints, packaging, social, digital, and traditional advertising. The first image below is a set of sketches we used to quickly gut check the visual refresh with Mixt. You create a brand ID that looks as good as the meat tastes. For Grass Roots Farmers Co-op, we started by enhancing their existing photography to make raw meat more appealing. We then created a look and feel that elevated them above an extremely competitive category. A new logo and a visual identity that represents their connection to the Earth. We gave them a new voice as well, that communicates the intentionality that goes into every step of their process. And now? Years of growth fueled by “cheap and cheerful” critter brands had left growth and consumer perception in negative territory and the threat of losing an entire generation of new wine consumers loomed large. Treasury Wine Estates needed a solution to revive the flagging fortunes of their Australian portfolio and simultaneously capture the love and loyalty of emerging Millennial wine drinkers. Use a rising consumer macro-trend to bring a new face to Australian wine. What was old was now fresh. What had patina was the shiniest object of desire. The tradition to these new wine millennials went beyond the winemaking process and into the realm of cultural storytelling. Building on that cultural insight, we pulled inspiration from a cultural period in Australia’s history that no brand had ever thought to explore—the gritty, dark, criminal origins of Australia’s genesis. 19 Crimes has become a legendary case study in the wine industry. It broke all the accepted rules of how quality and origin cues could be conveyed through a brand platform, and it illustrated that convention is oftentimes the anchor to growth. Old Trestle set out to create a whiskey brand that would celebrate the pioneering spirit they represented; however, they were anxious to go to market with other spirits while they aged their whiskey products, so they reached out to DIG for a timely and inspiring alternative. We set out to create a brand with experimentation and speed built into its core. Born of conversations with the Head Distiller at Old Trestle, we suggested using gin as their experimental spirit, infused with flavors from its birthplace-the Sierra Nevada mountains. The time it took to distill the product was much quicker than whiskey and the concept of botanically flavored gin was relatively new and spoke to the experimental nature of Old Trestle enthusiasts. Theory Gin celebrated the pioneering spirit of the renegades who founded this logging and railroad outpost.
